Difflam spray contains benzydamine, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, which acts as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory treatment for the throat and mouth to relieve pain associated with mouth ulcers, sore throat, teething, sore gums or tongue.
Difflam should be sprayed directly onto the painful area in the mouth or throat to relieve pain and inflammation. Adults and adolescents over 12 should spray 4-8 puffs onto the painful area every 1.5 to 3 hours. For children aged 6 to 12 years, spray 4 puffs onto the painful area every 1.5-3 hours. People with a history of asthma, or allergy to NSAIDs such as aspirin or ibuprofen should only use Difflam spray after getting medical advice. Difflam spray is not known to affect other medication – Difflam can be used with other medicines to treat a sore throat.
